About the job

We’re urgently seeking to employ an Emergency Cover Bus Services Assistant (Chaperone) to cover staff sickness or other absenteeism on the Ecole Jeannine Manuel bus Routes in Central London.

The children are aged between 4- 11 years old.

This role would be best suited to Students living or studying in the West London area would also be considered for this position or semi-retired persons who have worked with children and/or in the care industry.

Ideally you'd be able to commute to/or with easy access to London’s West London postcodes, and be available to work term-time only.

You'll chaperone on the morning and/or afternoon bus service, Monday to Friday.

The morning bus service starts at 7:15 am and ends at 8.30am. The afternoon service starts at 4pm and ends at 5.45 pm.

The morning route involves meeting the bus at the first stop location at 7:15am. You'll be looking after the children until you reach the school and hand them to the school staff. You'll also record their presence on our bespoke technology.

The afternoon bus service starts at 4 pm and involves you collecting the children from the school, walking them to the bus, and ensuring they board and alight safely at each stop.

You'll greet children and parents, help the children board the bus, and record their presence using our technology.

You'll ensure children are seated, are wearing their seat belts, and are well-behaved.

Due to allergies, no eating or drinking is allowed at all times.

Reporting to the Head of Operations (StudentSafe), you are required to report any concerns or incidents to the StudentSafe operations team, and build a good relationship with the driver.

You’re required to have a valid Enhanced Disclosure, with a children’s barred list check.

 

Job description


Your duties include;

Meeting and greeting parents and children
Helping children to board the bus, be seated, and ensure they are wearing their seatbelts. Ensure school bags are safely stored
Ensure the children are safe and secure during the bus journey and following the rules of the bus
Using technology to board and alight pupils on the route through our app
Deal with any parent queries/questions at the bus stop and escalate to the StudentSafe Operations Team as required
Report any incidents that may occur immediately to the supervisor on arrival at the school
Maintain a positive working relationship with the bus driver.
This is a part time / casual position, term-time-only, working Monday - Friday at the following times:
Monday - Friday: AM - 07:15- 0830 and PM - 1600 - 1715
 

Expected hours: Up to 15 per week

Ability to commute/relocate:  Central London

We'd require you to arrive at the first stop by 07:15 every day Mon-Fri, Term time only
