Sasha O'Brien

Hi everyone!!! :) My name is Sasha, I’m a third-year student studying Arts & Sciences with a focus on Psychology and Migration Studies. I am also half Peruvian/half British but lived in Germany my whole life. I would love to be Welfare Officer this year! <3

After volunteering in a refugee shelter full-time for a year in Germany working as a kindergarten teacher, I became interested in mental health concerns and in particular migrant mental health. This prompted me to take many psychology modules at UCL and continue in the psychology field after graduation. I hope to translate these interests and values learned to appropriately manage welfare concerns in our society. I hope to create a welcoming and inclusive environment where everyone feels comfortable and content. With a background in Psychology, I am well-informed on welfare concerns and want everyone to feel that they can always come to me with any problem. I am very interested in improving mental health on our campus, I love to chat about journaling, the benefits of yoga, mental health walks, etc.!

Thank you for your support, I am excited about the journey that lies ahead and meeting like-minded people!
