Amie Stott

My name is Amie. I’m a 3rd year medical student,  and the current interim treasurer of Jazz Society. I am running in the bi-election because I want to continue serving Jazz Society as official treasurer.

Since joining Jazz Society in my first year, I have shown how dedicated I am to jazz at UCL. As Big Band manager last year, I demonstrated strong leadership and organisational skills. In addition to managing rehearsals and coordinating with conductors, I worked closely together with the Grooves from the Arcade production team in 1st Term. I went on to direct a Jazz Wrapped showcase in 3rd term, which was also performed on the joint Live Music/Jazz Society tour. I gained insight into the administrative aspects of Jazz Society, for example by scheduling rehearsals and writing invoices for conductors.

With a vision to invest into growing the Jazz community and improve mentorship opportunities, I was initially appointed as Welfare Officer. However, over the summer, I stepped up as interim Treasurer. Since completing my training, I’ve developed an annual budget and worked with our current committee to set financial plans for the year. These plans include submitting multiple grant applications, for example for our upcoming Bloomsbury Theatre show. Two applications have already been successfully awarded by the Student Union.

Drawing on my experience with Jazz Society and my role as interim Treasurer, I hope to have earned your confidence as a capable treasurer, dedicated to ensuring the society's financial success this year!
