Thaina Matmati

Hello,

I am an MSc student at the Psychology and Human Development department (PHD) where I also studied for my undergraduate. I have been involved in PES for over 3 years as a member and later as president for 2 years. I was one of the committee members who contributed to winning the Student Union's Society Gold Development Award. I believe my knowledge of the society, the IOE and UCL will support a seamless transition into the Postgraduate Relations Officer role.

I have 3 objectives for the role:
- Promote the society to postgraduate students (taught and research) in the PHD department and the IOE.
- Liaise with postgraduate students to understand what events and activities they are interested in attending.
- Supporting the committee in planning events tailored to postgraduet students and ensuring their interests are considered in all society's activities.

There is a misconception that societies are only for undergraduate students. This is entirely false! PES is a departmental IOE society and plays a key role in creating a sense of belonging for all students. My goal is to close the communication gap between PES and postgraduate students and create opportunities that meet their needs and interests both socially and also academically.
