Amanda Brodie

Hi everyone,

I am running for VP because I want to give back to a community that has helped me so much. As a first year feeling lost and overwhelmed, I found my confidence at UCL Muay Thai. The club’s supportive environment motivated me to continue showing up every week and I am forever grateful for the friendships I made along the way.

One year on, I want to take on a bigger role in strengthening the club community and infrastructure. I especially want to push for greater female participation in this traditionally male-dominated sport. As VP, I hope to open the door for more girls with events like This Girl Can and Queen of the Ring. Having won the Bloodline Sponsorship scheme and witnessed my own progression last year, I know how rewarding Muay Thai can be and I want to encourage more girls to experience that same satisfaction.

I believe I am the best candidate for VP as I’ve already had a taste of the organisational and administrative responsibilities this role entails. Last year, I helped the committee with the running of 2 interclub events: UCL and Varsity fight night, acting as a runner for both events. I also helped oversee the running of KCL fight night, managing timings for our fighters. Finally, after experiencing my own fight at KCL’s QOTR event, I can confidently say that I would be an asset to the running of interclubs as well as the work that goes into organising Team UCL’s participation in events throughout the year.

Thankyou for reading and (I hope) for your vote!

Naim Kayembe Nabhan

Hey everyone! A lot of you probably know me, but here's a quick intro: I'm a 3rd-year student who joined UCLMT as a beginner last year. I have had some of my best uni experiences at the club, from competing at UFN and achieving the "Fighter’s Fighter of the Year" award, to cheering our fighters at Varsity where we destroyed Kings 4-1 (arguably 5-0 too).

I have been helping the committee out for a while now (Welcome fair demo, leading the ACS collaborative taster, with the kit for training, UCLMT's Diversity representative) and would love to continue doing so with an official committee role as VP. I’m motivated by a genuine passion to see UCLMT thrive for everyone, regardless of level or experience, just as it did for me. I am looking to make a lasting impact as UCLMT's first VP.

Although I may not be an active WhatsApp group chat warrior, I promise to deliver and help UCLMT be the best version of itself . I’ve also got some fresh ideas for memberships and ways to make our fight nights even better. I’m all ears for your suggestions too!

PS: As one of five selected for the Bloodline Gym Sponsorship last year, I might have some secret tips if you’re interested ;)

Thanks for your consideration—see you all at training!

Hey everyone! I'm Alison and I'd loove to be your VP 😊

Who are you and why are you standing?

Growing up I was forced into child acting and actually got to do some cool things from it, such as playing schoolgirl #3 in The Justice League (an absolute breakthrough role), and also having the privilege to take mixed martial arts lessons for on-screen fighting. The long hours on set I didn't love so much, but a love for MMA has stuck with me since. I joined Muay Thai as soon as I saw the incredible impact it's been making at UCL, and have loved being a part of the society so far!

Why you should vote for me:

The plan I envision for MT is to maintain its identity as a club-of-the-year quality society and one of the most reputable at UCL by refining our current schemes and introducing new ones, such as succession planning with a view to mentor future leaders. My priority would be to foster a safe environment where everyone is valued and eager to contribute. As the previous chair of the exam board AQA's student advisory group, where we represented students across the country in meetings with members of the Lords and Commons, executives of Ofqual and The Guardian, I have bounds of experience representing a student body fairly, being organised, writing meeting minutes, devising an effective roadmap and seeing it through.

My friends will say I'm their no1 fan, because I love to cheer people on and will be the loudest in your corner! Thanks for reading pls vote xx

Hello UCLMT Family,

I would like to ask for your vote to become UCLMT's first Vice President. I believe that I have the appropriate skills, passion and experience for this role.

Addressing each of the responsibilities:

  • Devising and enacting the club’s development: I’m forward thinking and keen to share my ideas with others. I enjoy working and planning collaboratively to solve problems.
  • Supporting the President with admin and organisation: My admin and organizational skills have been refined by the engineering department’s horrible timetabling, so time allocation will not be an issue. I also work as a Business Administrator for 2 days/week alongside my studies and have a Duolingo Streak with Pres. Bella!
  • TeamUCL campaigns and participation: After we won Club of the Year, the potential for UCLMT is bigger than ever. I will be leading campaigns with passion and personally encouraging collaboration.
  • Taking and circulating committee meetings: I enjoy hearing ideas from others and already know each of the committee well. I think I can get the best out of every meeting, with these benefits positively impacting the club.

Also, as many of you know, I have amassed many positions over my 2 years at the club. These are prestigious, self-bestowed titles such as:

  • PMTS (Phil’s Most Trusted Soldier)
  • Navigation Secretary
  • Recruitment Secretary
  • Assistant Treasurer
  • Assistant Training Secretary
  • Dog Secretary

Jokes aside this club means a lot to me and I want to help out where I can.

Thanks for reading,

Ethan
