I am applying to be the Public Relations Secretary for UCLMT because I enjoy playing the key role in promoting Muay Thai to others, as well as maintaining clear communication with current members. My passion for Muay Thai and commitment to the society can be shown by frequently attending training sessions and socials. I believe this would benefit me in making regular updates about the society’s activities on its social media platforms, which would encourage engagement from current members as well as promote the society to new members. As someone who takes personal responsibility and is punctual, I will be able to keep up with tight deadlines for emails or uploads to social media platforms. I also have high attention to details, therefore I will commit to delivering high quality works to maintain and enhance UCLMT’s public image. Moreover, having experience in maintaining my Sixth Form Student Instagram page, I am confident I have the skills required for this role.
Hi everyone! After being so involved in UCL Muay Thai last year, I really want to give back the great community we have and run for PR sec <3
After having regularly attended training sessions for the last year and a bit, I've witnessed the club's growth not only through the increase in members, but also through the creative ventures that our former and current presidents have initiated. This includes the development of our amazing instagram page, and more recently, the video collab series with our sponsorship Leap Frog Combat Media. Having had experience with photography, videography, photo editing, and copy editing through my roles as social media manager for a student startup, as well as Head Journalist at my old school, I have the skills needed to be a great PR sec and to fulfil the creative aspirations of the club. I also participated in a marketing internship over the summer, where I gained media and creative skills that are transferrable to the responsibilities of PR sec.
Other than my Adobe Premiere Pro account, which I will put to good use, I also have an understanding with how the club operates. During Fight Night and Varsity last year, I helped out not only administratively, but also contributed with some of my own photography. I love our club and hope I will be able to be able to support our committee through your vote!!
As someone who is incredibly passionate about Muay Thai and experienced in social media outreach, graphic design and communication skills, I firmly believe I would thrive within the role of a Public Relations Secretary.
Some of my experience which I believe fits the role includes:
Audience and Social Media Management - As one of the academic representatives within UCL Medicine, I am already involved in active responding to queries/comments regarding Clinical and Professional Practice, on multiple social media platforms.
Graphic Design/Content Creation - Proficient in multiple graphic design software, such as Canva, Adobe Photoshop and Procreate, and experience in running and promoting a digital art account on Instagram.
Organisational Skills - Successful in balancing my duties as an Academic Representative, my studies, my contribution to UCL Surgical Society and UCL Medical Society, whilst (most importantly) still attending nearly all the UCLMT social events and trainings. I believe this displays my dedication to UCLMT, along with an organisational ability that would facilitate regular emails and updates on social media platforms.
Athletic Experience - A decent level of experience in Muay Thai and other sports such as rugby and national athletics competitions, has given me a great understanding of sporting culture, allowing me to authentically connect with UCLMT members which will help boost the engagement of produced social media content.
Thank you for your consideration!
