As an enthusiastic member of the UCL Karaoke Society, I've experienced how karaoke brings people together and provides a platform for self-expression and connection. Beyond karaoke, I also have a background in traditional performing arts, specifically in Beijing opera, where I've had the opportunity not only to perform but also to volunteer backstage. This experience taught me the importance of teamwork, cultural appreciation, and creating a supportive environment behind the scenes. Working backstage allowed me to see how much effort goes into making performers feel comfortable and confident, an insight that I want to bring to my role in the society.
If elected as Welfare Officer, I would draw on my Beijing opera experience to foster a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere, ensuring that every member feels valued, supported, and safe—whether they're on stage or simply attending. I plan to introduce initiatives like "Wellness Chats" and "Safe Spaces" where members can discuss their experiences or any challenges they face. Additionally, I would ensure our events are accessible, inclusive, and respectful of different cultural backgrounds and singing styles.
As Welfare Officer, I would dedicate myself to making the UCL Karaoke Society a welcoming space that supports everyone’s well-being, so that we can all sing, connect, and have fun together. Thank you for considering me for this role—I look forward to the opportunity to serve and support this fantastic community!!
