Alexia Alexander Wight

Hi, I’m Alexia! I’m a first-year physics PhD student, and I’ve been doing pole for about a year. At my last uni, I joined my pole society, which ended up being the main place I made friends! This was one of the big reasons I wanted to join the UCL Pole Society - not just for the lessons and pole itself, but also for the community.

As both a mature and postgraduate student, I know it can be especially nice to have friends who are at the same stage of their life as you. As the postgraduate pole rep, I’d be making a space for us; where postgrad students can connect and chat, both about pole and our experiences as postgraduate students.

As well as the classic big socials, I’d also organise some more low-key socials, that can be easier to get to as a busy postgrad; things like lunchtime socials where we can chat and catch up, and study socials to get some cheerleading for doing that thesis writing. I’ll also set up an online chat space for us postgrads, where you can find friends to go to open poles and classes with, and to commiserate over stresses and celebrate successes.
