UCLUNA invites Prof. Phillip Ayoub to explore and share insight around the pursuit of equality for those in the LGBTI community - its resistance and challenges - followed by a Q&A session!

While remarkable progress has emerged for the rights of those in the LGBTI community, their journey towards equality has been met with formidable opposition. An increasingly interconnected and globally networked resistance now challenges LGBTI and women's rights, even seeking to reinterpret and co-opt international human rights law. In this session, Prof. Ayoub will draw on aspects discussed in his book with co-author Stoeckl 'In the Global Fight Against LGBTI Rights'. This book investigates this complex landscape, drawing from over a decade of in-depth fieldwork and over 240 interviews with LGBTI activists, anti-LGBTI proponents, and various state and international organisation actors.
