Project Active: Hampstead Heath Hike (Sunday, 12th of May 2024) 

 

Ancient Hampstead Heath’s origins stretch back to the Mesolithic period of early human history. Today, the heath sits in the heart of North London and stretches from Hampstead to Highgate. This gentle route features beautiful views from areas such as the legally enshrined Parliament Hill, which displays London’s cityscape at its finest. 

 

WALK DISTANCE: 9.92 km 

WALK TERRAIN: Good terrain with some dirt roads and defined tracks 

WALK TOTAL ASCENT: 126.08 m 

OVERALL WALK DIFFICULTY: 2 (https://www.uclhiking.co.uk/walk-grades)    


TRAVEL JOURNEY:   

- Arrive from your respective station to Hampstead Underground Station by 09:45. 

- Please arrive on time, as we will not wait for those who are late! 

 

FOOD: You MUST bring your own packed lunch, and plenty of water. 

 

OTHER STUFF TO BRING:   

- Hiking boots or footwear with good traction you don’t mind getting muddy   

- Train tickets and Railcard (if you have it, they’ll check!)   

- Raincoat/waterproofs in case of bad weather, shades/sunscreen/sunhat in case of good weather   

- Hand sanitizer, reusable water bottle!
