Course Overview:

This weekly intermediate-level Chinese class, conducted by UCLCSSA Mandarin Education Society, is designed to further advance students' proficiency in Mandarin Chinese. Building upon the foundation laid in the beginner level, this course focuses on enhancing listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills. Through more complex language structures and thematic content, students will deepen their understanding of Chinese grammar and vocabulary, enabling them to communicate in a wider range of situations.

Date & time & Venue: 

In Term 2 of 2024, the Mandarin Language Class (Intermediate Level, UCLCSSA) takes place every Tuesday 3-4pm and every Friday 3-4pm. 2 Classes in a week on the same content, so you could choose either slot to join, that fits your weekly schedule.

Intermediate-Level Teaching Content:

  1. Intermediate Conversations and Discussions: Engage in discussions on a variety of topics, expressing opinions and debating ideas.
  2. Extended Vocabulary Building: Learn more advanced vocabulary related to work, travel, technology, and other thematic areas.
  3. Intermediate Chinese Characters: Continue to build knowledge of Chinese characters for reading and writing more complex texts.
  4. Expressing Emotions and Opinions: Develop language skills to articulate emotions, thoughts, and opinions effectively.
  5. Cultural Exploration: Delve into deeper aspects of Chinese culture, traditions, and societal norms.

Teaching Methods: The class will utilize a combination of teaching methods, including advanced listening exercises, role-playing scenarios, in-depth discussions, reading comprehension tasks, and essay writing. Cultural exploration will be woven into lessons to provide context and enrichment.
