Jiayun Liu

Hi! I am Jiayun Liu, running for the Vice President of Events this year.

Why I'm Applying:

Having joined Guild Society for two years, it is more than just a community for me; it's a platform for empowerment, learning, and networking. My motivation to apply for the Vice President of Events stems from a desire to contribute to this vibrant community by leveraging my organizational skills, creativity, and industry insights to create impactful and inspiring events.

My Vision for Guild:

  • Expanding Networking Opportunities: I plan to broaden our society's network by collaborating with other universities and finance societies across London, providing our members with a richer networking environment.
  • Innovative Event Formats: By introducing a mix of online and in-person events, including workshops, speaker series, and panel discussions, I aim to cater to the diverse preferences of our members, ensuring everyone has access to our opportunities.
  • Strengthening Industry Ties: I intend to forge stronger connections with industry leaders to facilitate mentorship opportunities, internships, and guest speaker events, providing practical insights and guidance to our members.

I believe I would be an excellent fit for this role because of my leadership and creativity abilities. I am confident in leading the Guild Society's events to new heights, creating a more inclusive, supportive, and inspiring environment for all members.

Ayesha Malik

I am deeply passionate about fostering a dynamic and supportive community within the fields of finance, investment, and consulting. With my background and experiences in these areas, I understand the importance of networking, skill-building, and professional development opportunities for our members.

As Vice President of Events, I am eager to leverage my knowledge and expertise to curate a diverse and enriching calendar of events that cater to the interests and aspirations of our members across sectors. From workshops and panel discussions featuring industry experts to networking sessions and case study competitions, I envision creating opportunities that not only educate and inspire but also facilitate meaningful connections and collaborations among our diverse membership base.

Furthermore, I am committed to advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion within our society and the broader professional landscape. By incorporating diverse perspectives,  we can contribute to building a more equitable and representative future for all aspiring professionals in finance, investment, and consulting.

I believe in the transformative power of events to connect, educate, and empower individuals within our society. With my passion for these fields, my organizational skills, and my dedication to fostering a supportive community, I am confident in my ability to aid the society in delivering impactful and memorable events that contribute to the personal and professional growth of our members.

Veronika Liutarevich

Hello! My name is Veronika, I am a 2nd year Electronic and Engineering Student, and this year, I have been fortunate to perform the role of Guild Academy Executive. I loved  being part of a wonderful team that the committee is, as well as the spirit of self-improvement and excellence that we all shared. I am running for the position of Vice President of Events with a vision to enhance our career-focused journey together and help members of the Guild achieve their personal best.

Recognising the aspirations within our community, I plan to diversify our event portfolio. This means providing an opportunity to explore emerging industries and unconventional roles. By doing so, we can provide a broader perspective on potential career trajectories. As a STEM student myself, I plan to bring more events with tech-career focus to our society.

I aim to leverage and expand our network of professionals and alumni, ensuring that our events offer valuable insights and direct mentorship opportunities. Strengthening these connections will open doors for internships, placements, and insight days, directly benefiting our members.

I also plan to leverage the connections we have with the societies within the Guild to collaborate on more events together and combine our existing networks and industry connections.

My vision for UCL Guild is to be THE career society of UCL, and for all of our members to feel empowered and connected, with ample opportunities to explore, learn, and grow professionally.

Rachel Xin Ying Lo

Hi everyone!

I’m Rachel and I'm seeking your vote to be your VP of Events! As VP of Events, I intend to work collaboratively with our Head of Events to realise their visions for the upcoming year, whilst working closely with members to ensure the variety of events reflect their diverse interests.

As such, I intend to:

  • Contribute new event ideas in frequent idea-generation meetings with the HoE & Event Executives
  • Organise even more social events to raise our profile within the student body (e.g. Charity Balls, Pop-Up game booth on main quad!) In doing so, we can increase our reach to students who have previously not considered finance as a career pathway
  • Capitalise on the large membership network across the societies within Guild by hosting inter-society events – thus providing members with an avenue to build stronger connections across societies
  • Coordinate across societies within Guild (e.g. timetabling to prevent event clashes) to enhance overall cohesiveness of Guild

I believe my keen passion for leading people of different backgrounds toward achieving a common goal enables me with the skillset demanded of this role. Previously, I spearheaded a tutoring programme for 35 underprivileged kids unfairly affected by COVID, managing a team of 20+ volunteer tutors. I also started a financial literacy programme for my secondary school. This demonstrates my ability to bridge gaps between various communities and I hope to further hone this skill as your VP of Events next year!
