Description

Meet new people, be a part of the growing Talk For Health community! Support other people’s mental wellbeing and boost your own. This role will entail facilitating an on-going peer support group for people who want to boost their mental health and wellbeing. You will learn open and truthful talking, learn to listen empathetically, and gain basic counselling skills. 

Duties
  • Facilitate an on-going peer support group.
  • Communicating with the other Group Facilitators and Co-facilitators.
  • Promoting your on-going group through Textmarketer and Eventbrite.
  • Keeping track of participant attendance.
  • Attending reflective sessions with other Group Facilitators in the Talk For Health community to reflect on your practice.
Who will the volunteers be working with?
Volunteers will be working with x1 Group Facilitator and x1 Co-Facilitator during each on-going group. You will also work with the Talk For Health Operations Team.
Training
Training will be provided by the Talk For Health Operations Team.
• 4-day/or 6-day Full Talk For Health Peer Counselling Skills Programme (awarded certificate upon completion).
• 1-day Training Session called ‘Train The Chair’ (awarded certificate upon completion).
• 1-day Safeguarding Adults Awareness Training (awarded certificate upon completion).
• Training will also be provided on how to use Textmarketer and Eventbrite for our on-going groups.

Time commitment

• What’s the minimum commitment? 6 months minimum commitment.
• How frequent will you commit? Minimum is once a month for 2hrs per on-going group.
• What are dates of our sessions? Dates may vary depending on on-going group schedule. Example: Every 2nd Wednesday
• What are the expected hours? Timings may vary depending on on-going group schedule. Majority of groups are evening sessions but morning/afternoon is flexible. Example: 18:00 – 20:00
