The Ragged School Museum puts on free, educational art and craft activities that service local and wider London families. These include painting, designing and general art exploration related to an historical topic.

Volunteers will gain experience working with children and families and gain experience working in a heritage environment on an informal learning programme. Volunteers will have lots of fun!

Opportunity: London Landmarks Half Marathon

We need enthusiastic, proactive, and practical individuals who are prepared to be placed in a variety of roles at the event. If you want to be part of the epic central London sporting event and do so whilst helping many charities raise millions of pounds, then this is the role for you!

• We are looking for happy, friendly and enthusiastic volunteers to join our meet and greet team!
• This is a really important position as you will be the first members of the team that our participants meet when they arrive on event day!
• This is a really fulfilling role as you will get to meet hundreds of our runners and have the chance to welcome them to London, put a smile on their face, and get them motivated for their run!
• Ideally we would like you to have a good knowledge of London and how to get around so that you can advise and direct our participants on how to get to the Event Village from a particular tube station and how to get home for example.


Opportunity: ACTSA 25th Anniversary Event

ACTSA are recruiting a small team of volunteers to assist with logistical and event management support for our anniversary event, a live interview with Graça Machel. By volunteering for ACTSA, you will meet new people, including MPs, and Ambassadors who are attending the event. This is an excellent opportunity for anyone who wants to gain practical experience in events, fundraising and the charity sector.

To mark our 25th anniversary, we are planning a special event: An interview with Mozambican politician and humanitarian, Graça Machel, in front of a live audience. Graça Machel is also the widow of both former South African President Nelson Mandela and of Mozambican President Samora Machel. Ash Sarkar, British journalist, political activist and senior editor at Novara Media, will be the interviewer.

The interview will take the theme ‘25 years of…’, reviewing challenges the region has overcome over the last 25 years and highlight challenges that remain. Throughout the interview, we will also be exploring ways that further progress might be achieved in addressing inequality and delivering rights and sustainable development in the region. The 2-hour event will conclude with a question and answer session, when people in the audience will be able to ask Graça Machel questions.

We are looking for enthusiastic male students and professionals from all walks of life, backgrounds and sectors to volunteer in our next Inspiring Young Men event and share their career stories with young men from Hackney schools.
This is a fantastic opportunity to talk about your career story in a relaxed and informal environment and inspire young men to reach their full potential.


Opportunity: ACTSA Fundraising Dinner 2019

Each year, we host a fundraising dinner, which takes place in the South African High Commission. We are looking for a team of 6 volunteers to provide logistical and event management support to the ACTSA team. Responsibilities will include assisting ACTSA staff with the running of private and public auctions, greeting and directing guests upon arrival and ensuring the general smooth running of the evening. The role is suitable for reliable and hard-working individuals with excellent communications skills. Volunteers are expected to be reliable, polite and well-presented.


Chain of Hope Gala Ball 2019

This November we are holding our 17th Gala Ball. The event has grown considerably and we now welcome 600 guests to Old Billingsgate in the City of London. Last year’s event, featuring an explosive performance from Akon, raised over £2 million for our work! We hope to continue our success this year with the help of our incredible partners. The Ball consists of a champagne reception, 3 course dinner, live and silent auctions and celebrity performances.





London Landmarks Half Marathon

London Landmarks Half Marathon is a 13 mile run taking place on Sunday 24th March.

Mencap have lots of runners raising money to support people with a learning disability.

As part of our cheer squad, you’ll give them that extra support to cross the finish line.

It’s an electric atmosphere where huge crowds gather to support thousands of people running through the streets of London.

Volunteers will receive a t-shirt and refreshments, and can claim travel expenses if needed.

To give valuable experience to volunteers in event management, organisation and leadership. Volunteer stewards help make the festival happen * from checking tickets, setting up venues for debates and managing the queues and crowds.
