Purpose of the job

Students’ Union UCL are looking for a Project Assistant to support with the coordination and delivery of a number of projects run by the Intercultural Engagement department and to provide general administrative support to the team.

 

The Intercultural Engagement department aims to create a global experience for all students at UCL. By increasing the number and range of intercultural exposure opportunities, our ambition is to enable students to gain life changing experiences, develop new skills and increase their intercultural awareness and understanding.

 

The Project Assistant will be responsible for supporting with the coordination and delivery of a number of Intercultural Engagement projects including the Impartial Chairs programme and the Language and Culture Discovery Programme.

 

Impartial Chairs Programme:

Launched last year, this programme has been designed to enable students to develop key skills in debate and respectful disagreement. The programme includes training as well as an experiential learning trip to Northern Ireland. Language and Culture Discovery Programme:

To be launched in academic year 24/25, the Language and Cultural Discovery Programme will seek to provide students with an opportunity to develop their language skills, as well as their cultural awareness and understanding.

 

We are looking for a student with strong administration and coordination skills that has an organised and approachable working manner, and with an interest and a passion for intercultural discovery, to support the running of a number of Intercultural Engagement projects.

Job description
  1. To assist in the coordination and delivery of projects run by the Intercultural Engagement team.
  2. To assist in arranging skills development training workshops and travel arrangements.
  3. To assist in the organisation of focus groups.
  4. To assist in the monitoring and evaluation of projects run by the Intercultural Engagement team.
  5. To handle and process confidential data.
  6. To liaise with external suppliers and staff.
  7. To collate information, draft and distribute communications.
  8. To assist with writing copy for the Students’ Union website.
  9. To provide general administrative support to the Intercultural Engagement team.
  10. To model the appropriate behaviours and values in intercultural awareness and understanding.
  11. To always carry out work professionally and confidentially.
  12. To undertake all duties in line with UCL and Students’ Union UCL policy and procedures.
