Lin Jiang

As a second-year and a challenge-driven student, I always have had a great passion for exploring the diverse things in the finance world, and the dynamics of maintaining a high level of care are the qualities that will always make me a learner in progress.

The Investment Society is a vibrant landscape of possibilities that offers the most extensive investment-related speeches and events in London. As someone who is a committee at Guild and a member at UCLIS, I attended most of the events. To mention some, I attended the annual finance conferences, and I’m going to attend the Allianz Exclusive Event today… These enabled me to have profound talks with Managing Directors and maintain amicable relationships with them.

Professionally, I have developed sophisticated investment and financial knowledge myself, even if I’m from a non-finance degree. This knowledge and genuine passion pushed me to have several finance internships. Having also worked in an investor relations role at London investment firms, and as an event executive at various privileged societies across London, I have spearheaded more than 5 events by inviting professionals of different levels, including analysts to MD levels. These experiences have enabled me to build a strong network in the finance world and leverage this skillset to help more students at UCL as a whole. My goal for the next conference is to invite several of the most well-known people in the industry, thus making the tickets more deserved.

Arnov Vellakkat

I am excited to stand for the position of Vice President - Conference and Competitions for the UCL Investment Society, driven by my profound interest in the society and a strong desire to contribute to its growth. Having attended the flagship UCL Finance Conference, an event that stands out as one of my most memorable experiences at UCL, I am inspired to give back to the society by creating similarly valuable and unforgettable events for the upcoming cohorts. My passion for fostering meaningful connections and facilitating knowledge exchange within the finance community aligns with the objectives of this role. With my adept communication and leadership skills, honed through various experiences, such as the head of my school's economics club, and captain of my school basketball team. I am confident in my ability to handle multifaceted tasks efficiently, ensuring the seamless execution of conferences and competitions. Additionally, my extensive professional network, ranging from Goldman Sachs partners to law firm partners, positions me to bring in diverse perspectives and industry insights, enhancing the overall quality and impact of the society's events. I am eager to leverage my skills and network to elevate the UCL Investment Society's standing and provide unparalleled opportunities for its members.

Irakli Imnaishvili

A profound interest in finance, intellectual curiosity, and the eagerness to learn from experienced professionals are the 3 traits exhibited by all UCL students interested in investment banking and investment management. For me, it is conferences and competitions that cater to those interests by illuminating the reality of working in a rapid-pace environment like the realms of IB and IM. Running 5 societies at my school, through which I was able to organise weekly debates, workshops, and bi-annual conferences, enhance my teamwork, coordination, and leadership skills. If elected, I will be delighted to capitalise on these skills at UCLIS.

As the winner of multiple global economics essay competitions, finalist in Mathematics Olympiads and runner up in the investment championship, I value the significance of competitions and their power of initiating rapid personal and professional development. Competitions are especially prominent within the investment landscape as they commonly mirror some of the day-to-day activities of professionals. I aim to boost the quantity and scope of competitions and improve accessibility so that everyone is welcome to apply their interests to real world cases.

Despite already being the most important finance society at UCL, I profoundly believe UCLIS has immense growth potential in its pursuit of reaching all students interested in IB and IM. Being one of those students myself, I relish the opportunity to be a part of this.

Alexander Mal

I am running to be Vice President of the Investment Society because I will work towards helping us all get our dream jobs in finance.

I will make sure that our society brings in more big-name speakers, improve the current mentorship program and make it the best in the UK, and diversify opportunities through the huge UCL Finance Conference.

Right now, the mentorship programme is limited to an intake of few students each year, which must be increased and diversified across the board.

My goal is to give you more chances to learn, meet important people, and get ready for our amazing future. Together, we will make our society even more amazing and help each other succeed in the finance world.

Ishanvi Arora

My involvement as an executive and mentor in the investment society over the last year has deepened my interest and passion to contribute to this society. I plan to make changes in the committee's current work. I hope to use our foundation and enhance it to ensure the Investment Society is the place to be for anyone looking for a career in finance. I also aim to increase the socials we host to ensure that all members get adequate chances to network and meet like-minded individuals.

Here's why you should vote for me:

1. Elevating Our Society: I'll enhance our foundation to make our investment society the top choice for finance careers.

2. Empowering Your Success: I'll provide resources and support to help you thrive in finance.

3. Expanding Networking: More social events mean more chances to connect with others in the field.

4. Your Voice Matters: I'll advocate for ensuring our society meets your needs.

Together, let's make our investment society the best it can be.

I appreciate your support.
