Daniela Pamias Lopez

Honestly, if you had asked me before I came to UCL, I probably would have never said I would be interested in the world of tech. Coming to university and exploring the world of how we can use AI and programming to solve enigmas within medicine has changed my perspective on my future goals and how to achieve them. I am standing for Vice President of MedTech because I am increasingly appreciative of the crucial role that technology and innovation plays in medical advancements. This society has given me opportunities that I had never considered before, and helped me to discover my interest within the field of my degree: Biomedical Sciences. I would be honoured to have a leadership role in a society that has had such a positive impact on my experience at university and hopefully help to inspire other students to explore new paths within MedTech.

Ayman Asaria

Hi, I’m Ayman (& my kitten Kiwi!)

As the current AI in Medicine chair for MedTech I achieved some significant milestones:

-A turnout of 200+ at our flagship AIM conference

-Pushed our society membership to reach 300+ this year. MedTech= BNOC

-Worked tirelessly to secure sponsorships of £700+ and a collaboration with a non-profit at our conference

I have worked closely with this year’s VP & would therefore have a great understanding of what the role entails. As VP I would like to achieve these goals:

  1. Increase interuniversity collaboration: at university I find it is common to acquire tunnel vision when it comes to your degree, but the field of MedTech is interdisciplinary by nature. I hope to foster collaboration between individuals from all backgrounds in more informal settings
  2. Space out our events: As the current AI in Medicine chair, I have a unique perspective on the inner workings of our conferences. I believe spacing our events out would allow us to overcome some of these challenges we have faced this year.
  3. Promote Diversity and Inclusion: MedTech is a field that impacts individuals from all walks of life, and I would like increase the visibility of our society to people of all backgrounds.
Bilal Latif

I would like to be Vice President of UCL MedTech Society for a number of reasons:

In my time as a first year student at UCL, I've participated in the coding workshops, gone to the organised talks and seen the effects of the conferences held by the society. And having seen this, I would love to be part of the team the organises these events. I am very passionate about MedTech, a key example would be how I'm learning to teach myself Python, with a specificity in AI (neural networks) so I can apply this knowledge in a MedTech space .

Through attending the different networking events held by MedTech Society, I was successfully able to enrol in the KickStart Start-up Program. I would love to be able to apply the skills I learnt here to the society, a good example being leadership.

The leadership position of Vice-President requires leadership skills such as communication, delegation, and decision-making. This appeals to me, having played an integral part in starting and leading the Islam society in my secondary school, I would enjoy this responsibility a lot.

Currently learning about AI in Healthcare in my degree, the different ways we can apply MedTech to the current world has me in awe. And I would love to be part of the society that brings it forward at one of the most prestigious universities in the world.

Ashley Tsoi

Hey everyone! I am Ashley and I would love to be one of your MedTech Vice Presidents.

Having been an active member of the society in the past year, I have gained beneficial exposure to novel technologies used in healthcare. My passion for this field is highly driven by commitment, which motivates me to become an integrated member of this society to build on successes the sitting committee has achieved.

I believe my leadership and interpersonal skills will make me a great asset to the team in order to provide members with enriching opportunities for further learning and career development outside of their degree.

I would like to continue to expand the key initiatives introduced by the society via:

  1. Increasing student engagement by creating an inclusive environment where all members can share innovative ideas, knowledge and expertise.
  2. Promoting professional development by bringing in more diverse industry connections to deliver symposiums, conferences, mentoring and other resources that cover various aspects.
  3. Fostering a culture of collaborative networking and increasing outreach through building strong partnerships between societies and universities.

Being a part of MedTech society has been absolutely inspiring, and I hope to continue serving our community as Vice President in the coming year, thereby expanding my journey here!

Luna Brachet

Dear MedTech members,

I’m Luna, some of you may know me as one of this year’s AI Executives. As I run for Vice President of our well-established society, I recognise it is not a role that one ever feels prepared to take on. Nevertheless, I am confident that my experience, hardworking and friendly nature, and high standards make me an ideal candidate for the position.

As AI in Medicine Executive, I worked with the committee to bring the AI in Medicine Conference to life. In organising this event and participating in many others, I got to know my incredible colleagues and was highly involved in the organisation of the society. I believe this first-hand knowledge of MedTech’s inner workings and complexities will help me fulfil my role as VP to the highest level.

Our current leadership team has successfully guided the society to carry out many of our first in person events in years (e.g. Women in MedTech, AI in Medicine). As your Vice President, I’d like to honour their accomplishments by working hard to continue what they so skilfully started. I hope to create more opportunities for MedTech members to meet, whether it leads to fascinating conversations, lasting friendships, or emerging business projects. I also aim to optimise the organisation of the team to ensure another successful year of MedTech events!

I am determined to help foster the positive, hard-working and intellectually curious mindset at MedTech, and would be delighted to be one of your VPs in the year to come.

Sohum Sen

Hello everyone! My name is Sohum, and I am excited to announce my candidacy for Vice President of MedTech. As a third-year Mathematical Computation student, I have been on the MedTech committee for 3 years, serving in various roles ranging from Technology Officer to most recently Treasurer.

As Treasurer, I had the privilege of working closely with the President and senior team to achieve our goals. Some of my biggest accomplishments are:

  1. Advising the planning and leading the execution of our first in-person AI in Med conference in 3 years, which was a huge success, with over 200 tickets sold!
  2. Growing our member base to an all-time high, making MedTech one of the most active and vibrant societies on campus.
  3. Securing large sponsorships for the first time ever, allowing us to fund more initiatives and increase our scale.
  4. Being the go-to contact for all matters with the Students Union ranging from navigating form submissions to liaising with them whilst on tight deadlines and managing finances.

As Vice President, I will continue to build on these achievements, working collaboratively with the team to drive innovation and ensure that our members are engaged and informed. With my 3 years of experience and dedication, I am confident that I can help MedTech reach even greater heights. Thank you for your consideration, and I hope to earn your vote for Vice President of MedTech.
