Seyta M N Diop

Hello! I’m Seyta, I’m doing Medical Innovation and Enterprise and I joined UCNC in the 2s last year.Throughout sixth form I’ve had various roles managing the finances of a group or event. From organising prom, to being Managing Director of a business in Young Enterprise (business competition), I’ve learnt to handle money on an organisational level with confidence and reliability. These skills are transferable to the general upkeep of the clubs’ accounts and expenditures and collecting payments when needed. I’ve had opportunities to network with businesses due to my course. I hope to use some of these contacts and communication skills to find a sponsor to not only financially support our events but that also reflects the UCNC ethos of inclusivity and good sportsmanship.

As treasurer, my goal would be to promote resources for financial support to captains and players throughout the season. I know that netball can sometimes get expensive through paying umpires (before refunds are issued) or buying kit etc. so I want to make sure it’s financially accessible for everyone, and we support anyone struggling to afford any aspects of being a UCNC member, so they can focus on what they do best- playing netball! Finally, I want to embrace the role as treasurer to fully support the President in any way I can, particularly admin or finance related tasks for the successful running of the club in 2022/23. Thanks for reading, I hope you consider a vote for me!

Sasha Green

Hey ladies, I’m Sasha and I would love to be your treasurer next year!

Some of you might recognise me from a combination of training, socials or maybe even the netball Zumba session, but if not, here’s a quick summary about me and my vision for the club:

  • I’m currently a second-year chemical engineering student who, come Wednesday night, loves a good boogie on the Scala dancefloor. Being an engineering student, I love a bit of maths and I’d be more than capable of balancing the clubs’ finances and deciding where best to invest our money
  • I am highly committed and responsible. My dedication to the club has been demonstrated at training sessions and stand-alone-events, such as the Pride tie-dye event
  • As a TeamUCL Sports Rep, I already have good working relationships with the SU. Through this role I’ve planned and hosted multiple events during TeamUCL Pride week whilst assisting with Varsity preparations, so I understand how to organise, budget and most importantly pull off some really funky events
  • Secure some great sponsors so we can subsidise kit/memberships costs
  • Encourage growth and diversity within the club, whilst maintaining the supportive environment that’s been built over the years

Netball has brought so much to my uni experience, and I would love the opportunity to give back to the club. So, to finally answer the age-old question of ‘Why do I want to be treasurer?’-well in the words of Nelly, “must be the money” ;)

Maya Jagpal

Hello! My name is Maya, and I am running for Netball Treasurer. I am currently in my second year of studying Theoretical Physics, and I play for the UCL Netball 4s.

As I have thoroughly enjoyed being a part of the Netball society this past year, I want to be more involved with the running of the society next year. I believe I reflect the qualities of a good Treasurer:

  • I am very organised with my work, which will allow me to meet pressing deadlines smoothly and oversee the income and expenditure of the club efficiently.
  • As a Physics student, I am not scared of demanding work or complications - if anything, I view them as challenges. Also, I know my way pretty well around an Excel spreadsheet!
  • From working in the service industry, I have developed great communication skills. These skills will help me liaise with the Student Union effectively and sort out any problems that we may have, for example, with reimbursements.

These qualities, and more which I have yet to present, would make me a great addition to the Netball Committee.

As Treasurer, I plan to prioritise seeking more sponsorship opportunities to increase our funding and always be available to any member of the society for support. My most significant priority would be to work well with the President and Vice to meet our collective goals for the Netball society. And of course, I will keep shooting hoops!

Thank you for reading, and I hope you vote me for Treasurer!
