Mathura Kathirgamanathan

My name is Mathura, I am a first-year medical student, and I would be thrilled to be your next Concert Band Manager! Having joined Concert Band at the start of this year, I have thoroughly enjoyed meeting people across UCL. I have also had fun playing a variety of different pieces of music in rehearsals and concerts.

I can play the Piano and the Flute, and maybe the odd note or two on the French Horn. I have also been a part of a few ensembles at school and a marching band with the cadets, so I would love to use these skills as your next Manager! What I love about Concert Band is the friendly and relaxed nature of the society (biscuit breaks are also a highlight) – we have new people joining every week, yet we still pull together to sound amazing at concerts, playing from a range of musical genres.

As a potential manager, I would like to develop the social side of the society – this includes organising dinners or evenings out, and I would also love to grow Concert Band’s social media! As much as I would enjoy playing 'How to Train Your Dragon' over and over again, it would be great to get as many people involved with choosing the pieces of music we play through informal polls, in order to make Concert Band more enjoyable and inclusive for everyone.

It would be amazing to be your next Concert Band Manager for the upcoming year. If elected, I cannot wait to get started with the role, and I look forward to hearing your ideas and suggestions!

Joshua Adam Berdouk

Hello my musical lovelies! Concert Band has become the time in my week I get to keep up a passion we all share. Making time for rehearsals to play together, catch up with each other (and fight for the last hobnob!) keeps music a part of our busy lives.

To make the most of each week, let’s work together to make these changes:

  • Having your say: I want to open up involvement in decisions with termly repertoire polling and weekly biscuit preference voting!
  • Furthering our playing: diversifying our repertoire with wider-ranging genres whilst structuring our rehearsals by announcing weekly targets will soon have the London Philharmonic worrying about competition!
  • Being a family: let’s get together more for socials and concert trips – one big happy family!

So as your manager, I want to be the one to help with anything. Approaching me with any questions, worries, suggestions or even for a good chat (musical or not) would be a joy – exactly why me, my saxophone and my biscuits am serenading you for your vote!
