Hi everyone, my name is Alex and I’m thrilled to be running for Head of Events. I'm a second-year History, Politics, and Economics student, majoring in Politics and Economics.

As a society member since last year, I've enjoyed UCL Dip Soc's amazing events. I'm eager to join the committee, collaborating to organise more fun and engaging events.

As the External Relations officer for UCL Snowsports Society, I excel in building relationships and organising diverse events. My internship with the Afghanistan and Central Asian Association, including organising major cultural events like our International Women’s Day event at the Royal Albert Hall, has also honed my communication, organisation, and problem-solving skills - vital for coordinating events effectively.

These are my proposals for making our events more impactful:

  • Incorporate more events with a focus on Security. 
  • More events with British diplomats, giving members a chance to connect with members of the Foreign Office and receive better insights in furthering their diplomatic careers.
  • More trips to political institutions such as the EU or UN so that members can get first-hand experience in the functioning of these important institutions. 

I'm passionate about diplomacy and shaping our world. As Head of Events, I'll create engaging experiences, fostering understanding, collaboration, and dialogue among our members. I'll also leverage my contacts to benefit Dip Soc, ensuring meaningful events.
