Are you looking for the opportunity to do a one-off day of volunteering in May and make a real and immediate difference to the lives of young children living in poverty in London?
Whether you’re new to volunteering and inspired by the Big Help Out or simply looking for an opportunity to give back to the community during the cost-of-living crisis, we would love to welcome you to one of our one-off volunteering sessions at the Little Village hub in the Treaty Shopping Centre in Hounslow.
We sort and organise donated items destined to become beautiful bundles for the families we support through our work as a baby bank. Volunteering provides an opportunity for you to build on your organisational and communication skills and perhaps even make new friends and contacts in a warm and friendly environment.
There are approximately 20 spaces available at this session, and we anticipate this to fill up quite quickly, so if you are keen to join us, please do reply as soon as possible to secure your space.
Duties
- When you arrive on-site you will be given a clear induction as to how everything works.
- You may be helping us to sort stock and create bundles of bespoke clothing for families
- You may be checking the donated pre-loved items that we receive, ensuring clothing and toys are good quality. This is an important part of our work as we are an organisation giving gifts from one family to another, so they should be of the highest quality.
- A large part of the role is organising donations, by gender, age, and item type.
- You might also be asked to safety check buggies and build cots to check all parts are complete and the cot is safe.
Commitment
We are holding the event on Friday 5th May and the session runs from 10am – 4pm
We do ask for a firm start time of 10am, but we can be flexible on finish time e.g. 3pm rather than 4pm. You are welcome to take a 30-minute break for lunch (1pm – 1.30pm) and we have lots of tea and coffee and treats for re-fuelling breaks throughout the day.
Location
Our Hounslow Hub is on the former Debenhams site at the Treaty Shopping Centre in Hounslow. We are a five-minute walk from Hounslow Central (Piccadilly Line) and an eight-minute walk from Hounslow railway station. We’re easily accessible on bus lines 111, 203, 237, 281, 423, E8, H37.
