Description

Hello!

We are Impact Initiative, a student-led project empowering refugees based in London through education. Our project has been running for 4 years and we are currently a team of two looking forward to recruiting more Leaders for our project to continue this academic year. Through our partnership with the NGO Hopscotch, we organise both in-person and online English tutoring sessions for Afghan refugee women. Our sessions have been attended by more than 50 refugees.

This role implies overseeing the well-functioning of the project and the delivery of the tutoring sessions. Our team of Project Leaders works on completing all administrative procedures of the SU Volunteering Service, recruiting UCL volunteers to deliver sessions, finding new NGO partners you could collaborate with, and spreading awareness about our cause through social media. This requires adaptability and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

Based on the experiences of the former Project Leaders, this volunteering role is extremely enriching as it allows you to develop your communication, organisation, and leadership skills and to be part of an extremely dedicated team making a true social impact. We welcome all students, but since this is a regular volunteering position, it might better suit a student in their first or second year of studies.

Duties
  • Completing yearly and monthly Volunteering Service admin tasks (updating the risk assessment, project plan, budget plan, partnership agreement, writing monthly reports)
  • Recruiting and onboarding volunteers to carry out the tutoring sessions
  • Securing partnerships with London-based NGOs and discussing the details of the collaboration
  • Supervising tutoring sessions
  • Managing Impact Initiative social media (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn)
  • Managing the team of Project Leaders through regular meetings
