St Mungo's
Our mission is to house, support and care for vulnerable people in London who either have been, or at risk of sleeping rough and homelessness. Our aim is to make sure that homeless and vulnerable people can look forward with optimism and can contribute to the quality of life.
Description

As a Move on Volunteer you will be supporting our clients through client led action plans along with our support workers. We work with each client to improve their financial situation, physical health and wellbeing, increase resilience to homelessness, and ultimately aid the client to move on positively to their own independent long term housing. We are very excited to develop our service and are seeking a Move On Volunteer to become part of our team, specifically to support delivery of a weekly drop in service run out of our Southwark projects.

Duties

You will be supporting us with all or some of the following tasks:

• Working with clients to develop life skills to manage their own accommodation such as understanding their tenancy agreement obligations and rights but also basic budgeting skills

• Contacting external services on behalf of clients to make appointments or advocate on their behalf for example where clients experience challenges with phone calls or completing forms.

• Accompanying staff on client visits where appropriate

• Build relationships with local services and community groups such as food banks and create simple guidance on how clients can contact them

• Supporting staff in the project – this can be carrying out health and safety checks; help with bagging client belongings as they move out and any other general support.

• Reviewing move on progress and actions with project workers using a move on spreadsheet

• Adhering to St Mungo’s Policies and Procedures at all times.
