The People's Classroom
We are on a mission to design an engaging and accessible learning environment where every student can reach their full academic potential.
Description

We are looking for Maths GCSE tutors to deliver weekly revision workshops and local secondary schools

We are on a mission to design an engaging and accessible learning environment where every student can reach their full academic potential. We are looking for dedicated Maths GCSE tutors to join us on our journey to bring this vision to life.

Our programme runs after-school tutoring workshops for 'disadvantaged' students who are currently falling behind in Maths GCSE. We provide targeted academic support through small-scale tuition, which covers key topics for students to catch up on. We work collaboratively with students to co-produce educational materials (including an EdTech learning resource).

The People's Classroom is an educational outreach initiative that was initially established as a student-led programme through the UCL Volunteering Service Unit (VSU). We are now establishing ourselves as an independent charity to oversee the growth and expansion of our programme.

As a tutor, you will also have the opportunity to engage and collaborate with expert and keynote speakers from across the following sectors:

-Academia
-Banking
-Finance
-Law
-Media & Technology
-Policy

Duties

-Lead small-scale weekly tuitions for 8-10 weeks.
-Run small-group sessions teaching Maths GCSE content (maximum of 5 students per group).
-Work collaboratively with students to co-produce learning resources
-Collaborate with expert and keynote speakers to produce informational resources for students.

Who will the volunteers be working with?
The volunteer will be working with Maths GCSE students from marginalised and underrepresented backgrounds who are currently falling behind. Students are aged between 14-16 and attend local state secondary schools.
Training
All tutors will undertake safeguarding and tutoring training prior to the programme launch.

Time commitment

1-2 hours weekly for 8 weeks.
