We are looking for kind, friendly and enthusiastic volunteers to join our group activities sessions at one of our housing projects for people with learning disabilities and autism. The aim of this role is to help support staff and your role as a buddy will help target social isolation found among those with learning disabilities. You will be helping us to encourage social interaction through activities, outings, and conversation! The purpose of the Group Buddy Befrienders Volunteer role is to target social isolation found among those with learning disabilities and encourage social interaction through activities, outings, and conversation. Personal Attributes: -Kind, warm, friendly and intuitive -Excellent communication skills and are ‘people’ persons -The ability to adapt to new situations and willing to try new things -Discretion and ability to keep information confidential -Ability to adhere to Centre 404’s mission statement and values, and use a person centred based approach when working with others

Time commitment

We ask our Group Activity Buddy's to commit to at least 6 months of volunteering as you will be forming friendships with our service users. The activities take place most days of the week so you can choose one which suits you! The sessions run for two hours and we would like our volunteers to attend the whole session.

What measures have you put in place to ensure volunteers’ safety during COVID-19?
Sign in and out sheets, temperature checks, masks, hand sanitisers and washing stations, and Covid-19 risk assessments in place. We also have been marked as a Covid-19 secure building with posters up around the building.
