Phineas is a spacious venue named after the mascot of an old tobacconist, which was regularly stolen by UCL students in the 1930s.

Here, you can study and socialise during the day, or head along in the evening to one of the nightly events.

Phineas is the spiritual home of TeamUCL and host to our legendary Sports Night every Wednesday during term time! The bar is also hosting the infamous Glittoris series, our monthly LGBT+ club night as well a weekly pub quiz. Phineas is your go-to ‘something for everyone’ Union bar.

Pints start from £2.80 and wine from £2.00. We’ve something going on every night of the week and some great drink deals too.

Student consultation about Phineas

The reopening of the bar has led the Union’s sabbatical officers to find out more about the history of Phineas and review whether the current name of the bar should be retained or updated, and if, where and how the statue should be displayed in future. Find out more about our student consultation here
