I'm running for welfare officer as I cannot emphasise enough how helpful it is to have supportive and friendly members on the team as a new player. I believe that welfare is a role in sport which mustn't be overlooked, and as a new member of the team this year, I have massively appreciated the efforts to engage with and support the health and wellbeing from the current committee.
The role of welfare officer specifically stood out to me as I feel that I have personally benefitted from the additional support in the team since my time here. From the check-ins and advice for injuries, to the virtual team-wellbeing-workshops, I have learnt how vital the role of welfare is for everyone, and this is something that I would feel proud to continue in this role.
I would describe myself as a confident person, although upon first meeting people, I definitely often experience how daunting it can be. As someone who takes my time to "come out of my shell" I think I could effectively reach those who may be more vulnerable, or introverted in the team, and guide them in any of their concerns. On the whole, I'd love to be a friendly face for both new and old members of the team, and I never get tired of listening and talking to people!
Welfare Officer is a position which I think shouldn't be understated, and I would love to collaborate with other members of the committee, and support the overall running of the club!
