Emily Malloy

I'm running for welfare officer as I cannot emphasise enough how helpful it is to have supportive and friendly members on the team as a new player. I believe that welfare is a role in sport which mustn't be overlooked, and as a new member of the team this year, I have massively appreciated the efforts to engage with and support the health and wellbeing from the current committee.

The role of welfare officer specifically stood out to me as I feel that I have personally benefitted from the additional support in the team since my time here. From the check-ins and advice for injuries, to the virtual team-wellbeing-workshops, I have learnt how vital the role of welfare is for everyone, and this is something that I would feel proud to continue in this role.

I would describe myself as a confident person, although upon first meeting people, I definitely often experience how daunting it can be. As someone who takes my time to "come out of my shell" I think I could effectively reach those who may be more vulnerable, or introverted in the team, and guide them in any of their concerns. On the whole, I'd love to be a friendly face for both new and old members of the team, and I never get tired of listening and talking to people!

Welfare Officer is a position which I think shouldn't be understated, and I would love to collaborate with other members of the committee, and support the overall running of the club!

Maria Galitzine

Hi I'm Maria and I'm applying for the welfare secretary position.

I value how important this position is to support the team on and off the pitch, especially balancing rugby with university! I want to make sure that the loving and inclusive environment I got to be a part of this year continues to grow next year. The support available from the team, in particular Nat, was so incredible this year and I would love to continue this by organizing welfare events for the team, such as workshops, wellness picnics, and more! Mental health on and off the pitch is an integral part of being the best player you can be, sometimes you have a bad day and you need someone to talk to, to lean on, and to feel supported by the team. I pride myself in being a friendly and approachable individual and as someone quite new to rugby I understand fears/worries around newer players. On the flip side, I have been playing sports for most of my life and understand what an important part of our lives it is.

UCLWRFC became my family away from home and I would love to help it be the same for others next year!! Thanks for considering me !!

Madison Dews

I believe I’d be the right fit for this job and make a great contribution to the team; I would love to commit to helping others and encouraging a positive environment within our team. I am passionate about organising events and sessions to foster support within our team, and have experience doing this from when I ran the Amnesty International club in sixth form.
