Hello everyone, I am Alyssa, a first-year student studying Psychology and Language Sciences. Having been born and raised in Hong Kong over the past 18 years, I never imagined how different the world could be until I began studying abroad. Pursuing my education in the UK marked a significant milestone for me. Far from my home and family, it seemed as though I was suddenly thrust into independence overnight. UCL PASS became a 'home away from home' for me; not only a comforting space where I feel a sense of belonging, but also a platform that provides various opportunities for personal growth. These opportunities include making new friends, contributing to society by assisting the underprivileged, and becoming more aware of current affairs.

Having once been a newcomer abroad, I can fully empathize with the anxiety and loneliness one may experience when adapting to a new environment. Therefore, my aim is to foster an inclusive and cohesive community where members from all years feel a sense of belonging. Furthermore, I am committed to providing adequate resources for members to fully explore UCL, London, and their future potential, ranging from career opportunities to fostering connections with friends from diverse backgrounds and cultures. To achieve this, I intend to cultivate closer relationships with other UCL societies and PASS groups, as well as creating new activities that promote engagement and integration within the community.
