Candidates

Roli Nanna

I have a growing passion for fashion and an interest in social media. I believe that my unique blend of marketing expertise and social media savvy positions me as the ideal candidate. I have experience from being a careers extra publicity champion/content creator at UCL, and vital skills gained during my time as leader of the psychology club at my school where I had to publicise the club and grow membership.

I see this role as a chance to build a real online community. Fashion allows people to express themselves and I want to grow the society and turn it into a go-to spot for everything stylish and exciting. If I get elected, I would use the platform to share any further opportunities I find that would allow people to grow their knowledge and skills around fashion.

I have a passion for creativity and would love this chance to use my skills to share all the amazing things the society offers, while fostering a larger community within the student body. Lastly, I promise to be fun so please vote me!

Lea Schwartz

Hey guys!

I’m Lea and I’m a second-year Psychology student :)

I would love to be your new head of marketing and contribute to keeping MODO an active society with lots of events! I firmly believe that good online communication is key in inspiring people to get involved in the society. As head of marketing, I will ensure that our socials are both a source of information and a display of the art that we create. I would love to maintain our online presence through regular posts and enhance this with creative and interactive content that gives you the opportunity to have a say as well.

I believe that I have the right set of skills for this position. My background in art, including years of lessons and teaching experience, gives me a solid foundation in graphic design and an eye for aesthetics. Furthermore, I have experience with photo-editing software which enables me to create engaging social media content. Lastly, as a Psych student, I have unique insight into the science behind marketing which helps me create media that speaks to people :)

Over the last two years, MODO has played such a big role in making my university experience special and I would love to carry this forward to inspire current and new MODO members. I really value our spirit of community, creativity and self-expression and would love to contribute to this as a member of the committee.

I would be honoured to be your new head of marketing! <3

Anika Cheng

Hi, I'm Anika! I'm from Hong Kong and I'm studying Chemistry. As the most artistic expression my degree allows is drawing out molecules and hexagonal benzene shapes, I love having graphic design as my creative outlet. I've been playing around with Photoshop and Illustrator since GCSE, and I created and designed a science magazine in high school. As my degree has gotten harder, I've found comfort in designing for various companies in my free time - I designed (and produced over 150 pages for) a planner which was published and sold in Hong Kong and India, and I'm also currently designing Instagram posts for a law firm on the weekends - and managed to increase reach by 46% and engagement by 90%. I would love to work on something even more artistic by designing for UCL MODO!

I'm also currently a consultant for 180 degrees consulting, working on a project for a NGO rebuilding villages in Nepal, and I'm Social Secretary for Asian Social Network, which requires me to plan and organise weekly 3-4 hour events. In my free time when I'm not designing, painting or playing with air-dry clay (my latest obsession!), I'm playing volleyball or learning how to pole dance with UCL pole fitness society. I hope to meet you guys soon :)

Sarina Seth

Hi! I’m Sarina and I'm a third year French and German student, currently doing study abroad in Berlin but I’ve been a part of MODO my entire time at UCL.

Since I started at UCL, I have been involved in lots of different events and projects so I designed a collection for the Fashion Show at Steel Yard last year, I took over as editor-in-chief of the magazine last month, I was an editing executive on the magazine for the last two years and I created social media/marketing content for the Steel Yard fashion show and magazine launch last year so  I'm very familiar now with how things work and what the society has to offer!

I think I'm qualified for this position as I have a lot of social media/marketing experience having done 2 social media internships for 2 London-based independent brands, I was UCL Dance Society's Blooms Marketing Director last year and I even created social media content for MODO for the magazine and fashion show last year. I also have a lot of graphic design experience having worked on the MODO magazine for nearly 2 years and just set up the Instagram for it (@uclmodomagazine).

My goals:

  • maintain high standards across all promotional and social media content using professional editing programs
  • make sure all the many events going on and all the amazing work is being regularly posted about and promoted
  • make sure information is super accessible and welcoming for people new to the society
  • make sure the feed is always looking cohesive and pretty ofc :)
