Aisha Goplani

Hey everyone,

I'm excited to nominate myself for the Endocrinology Chair position at UCL Medical Society. I've noticed a gap in our events – where's all the endocrinology love? It's a fascinating field, but it's not getting the spotlight it deserves.

If I am elected for this role, I've got big ideas:

- Annual Endocrinology Conference: With keynote presentations by expert endocrinologists, panel discussions, poster presentations (for those portfolio points!) and workshops!

- Kickstarting an Endocrinology Society within MedSoc: With networking opportunities and career development sessions

- Research Mentorship Programme: Pairing students with researchers in the field to collaborate on projects and potential publications!

Why me? I really am interested in endocrinology, both at the pre-clinical and clinical level and I want to create a community where like-minded students can explore that interest. I'm not just passionate – I'm practical and organised. I've got the drive to make things happen, and I'm all ears when it comes to your ideas and concerns.

Muhammad Salman

Throughout medical school, I have become growingly intrigued by the intricacies of endocrine and metabolic health; with my clinical rotations this year further igniting my passion. If I am elected as your endocrinology chair, here is a glimpse into the future:

1) Teaching & Mentorship | We will host regular teaching sessions tailored to both clinical and pre-clinical students and instate mentorship programmes providing personalised support.

2) Inaugural Endocrinology Conference | A novel platform for students and faculty to present their research, exchange ideas, and network within the dynamic field of endocrinology.

3) Community Engagement | Community outreach programs will allow us to educate individuals on their endocrine health. From interactive workshops on diabetes management to seminars on hormonal imbalances, we will aim to foster a healthier and more informed community.

Why me?

Having presented at the annual ECCR conference, achieving an iBSc with First Class Honours in Cardiovascular Science, and by engaging in various endocrinology conferences, I have developed a strong academic foundation and prowess. This, combined with the various logistical skills I developed while serving as the Sports Director of UCL Pakistan Society, make me a strong candidate for this role. I am eager to lead as your endocrinology chair, using my array of skills and past experiences to propel our society forward!

Emmanuel Beltazar

Hey there, I'm Emmanuel! I'm a fourth-year med student with a passion for endocrinology, and I'm running for Endocrinology Chair. Here's what I'm all about:

  1. Cool research: I'm knee-deep in endocrinology research, including one project submitted for an international conference. I want to get others involved too! I am working on some projects independently and I want to show others how to do it as well.
  2. Collaboration: I'll team up with other medical societies to amp up research opportunities. Think pediatrics and renal, just to name a few.
  3. Educational diversity: i want to mix up the speaker series, showcasing a range of professionals and career paths beyond just diabetes. From dealing with growth hormones in babies to those niche neuro-endocrine conditions, we will explore everything
  4. Fun stuff: From movie nights to volunteering and day trips, I'm all about making learning fun and memorable. Vote for me to take our Endocrinology department to the next level!

Finally, most important of all I have a bunch of cute birds that can be the mascot for our society :)
