Medical Society: Clinical Education Chair

Hi, I’m Max and I am excited to run for the position of clinical education chair.

Having personally benefited greatly from the tutorials provided by medsoc, I would be privileged to work to maintain the same high standard of quality for future students. During my first clinical year, I realized that the style of teaching and learning was unlike what I had experienced in my pre-clinical years. The fast-paced nature of learning, which requires a lot of self-teaching, can be overwhelming and confusing.  Therefore, I understand the importance of a student led teaching series that can make an intense year, much more manageable.

One of my goals as the clinical education chair would be to work collaboratively with the medical school to address the concerns raised by students about the lack of information provided on the types of questions that will be asked in the SBA exam. This has been a source of anxiety for many students, who are uncertain about whether they are learning the content correctly. To address this issue, I aim to organise a mock SBA, so that students can track their progress and familiarise themselves with the format and wording of the questions. My goal in providing this is to ease the anxiety many students experience and make their clinical years more enjoyable.

My experience as the head of tutors for Pre-clinical education has helped me gain an understanding of how to run tutorials, and so I believe I would make a great clinical education chair.
