Woojin Nam

Hi, my name is Woojin (Jina) and I’m a current second year History, Politics and Economics student running for SSEES Soc Treasurer! My goal for the upcoming year is to manage our funds effectively, ensure that the society is able to host as many memorable and useful events possible, and to create welcoming and accessible society activities.

As the Engagement and Welfare Officer for SSEESSoc this year, I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the process of experiencing and learning the ins and outs of running a departmental society. I believe I’ll be able to take everything I’ve learned as the welfare and engagement officer to make this upcoming year even better for our SSEES community.

There are a number of things I’d like to achieve as Treasurer. Some of these goals include:

  • Ensuring that funds are properly managed so that SSEES Soc can continue to host flagship events such as the Vodka Tasting
  • Providing unique solutions to possible budgeting issues so that we can also introduce new events, such as possibly bringing the SSEES Ball back
  • Making sure that events are accessible through reasonable and student budget-friendly ticket prices

I’m excited by the opportunity to create a warm and inclusive community for SSEES and hope to liven our student experiences in the department!

Ziying Su

I'm standing for treasurer because

1. I ’m well at accounting. I'll handle all financial matters for the society, including approval documents and payment.

2. I possess analytical abilities, such as identifying flaws.

3. I’m detail-oriented with an eye on the long term. I will keep the long periods in mind so I won't be surprised when unexpected expenditures arise.

4. I'll have a vision for how the group might grow and better serve society.

5. I maintain accurate and systematic records, just as financial records must be.

Konstantin Dilchev

Amongst the most significant responsibilities for every Society is to manage its budget correctly. That makes the role of a Treasurer essential for SSEES Soc. My name is Konstantin Dilchev, I am a first-year HPE student, and I am applying for this position encouraged to optimise the resources spent in the events organised by the Committee.

SSEES Society is well-known for the numerous events created during the academic year, and as a current member of the Committee, I am aware of the difficulties behind each successful one. It is often challenging to estimate the money needed for an event and optimise how to spend them. I am inspired to apply for this position because HPE is an economics-related degree, and I am convinced that this would help me make the best out of the role as a treasurer.

I am also aware of potential extra funding sources provided by the Student Union, for example, Friends' Trust or Welfare funding. Given the number of event ideas that the Society of SSEES had throughout the year, financing them is vital for their realisation. Therefore, finding as many ways to fund them as possible will be my number one priority.

I am highly motivated to contribute to the SSEES Society Committee as a Treasurer with critical thinking, new event ideas, and fundamental knowledge of Economics.
