When I first joined the Pure Krav Maga Society at the start of term 1, I was unsure what to expect having never been to a Krav Maga class before, as soon as I walked into the gym on the first session, I was immediately welcomed and felt at ease, as the session progressed I felt more and more comfortable practicing the techniques, all the instructors and committee members were extremely helpful helping us learn the technique because they created a safe space for us to learn, there was no fear of failure as it was encouraged to find any weaknesses in the technique so they can be corrected, all of the members are extremely friendly and warm, all of the sessions I have attended have been very fun, engaging and even a good way to destress. Next year, I would love to help this environment thrive and will try my best to resolve any issues that arise and constantly find ways to improve the society, routinely asking the members if there is anything we can improve or do differently, I would also love to get more people to join the society so they too can learn a awesome skill and join the great community we have here!

Sacha L C Goldenberg

Hello everyone!

My name is Sacha (but you must already know, I bet it’s written somewhere above this text) and I absolutely don’t know how to start this. The krav-maga club is the first society I really got involved in. I come to as many sessions as I can, I really enjoy it, and I’ve met wonderful and kind people there.

I didn’t expect to love this society that much, but I’m happy it turned out this way.

This is why I’d like to do more for the club. I don’t want to see it disappear next year just because no one nominated themselves. It would be a shame, really.

I’m not going to lie – I am a shy kind of person, that hate being the centre of attention, and I know nothing as to how to preside over a society. I’m scared I’m going to make mistakes, I’m afraid I won’t be able to fill in the role. But I want to see everyone enjoy krav-maga next year. I want to see new faces, I want to have more sessions, I want to learn more.

The title of "president" seems a bit terrifying, and I am aware that there are people who would fit the role way better than I can ever hope to be, but I know that everyone wants to see the society thrive, and that’s what gave me the courage to nominate myself.

Krav-maga at least taught me to be a little more confident, to stand my ground a little better, and I have everyone to thank for that.
