I’m Mominah, currently in my 4th year & running for the Ophthalmology Lead.
Aims:
1 To continue the provision of the Duke-Elder course
2 To deliver insightful & interactive sessions with trainees
3 To provide links for students to networks of Consultants
4 To collaborate with Imperial for Microsurgery/Plastics Conference
5 To explore the delivery of microsurgical skills
6 To provide volunteer-led fun-days for schoolchildren
These aims will help fulfil my overall goal of exploring the field holistically & collaboratively, with equal access for whomsoever it may interest regardless of experience.
I feel well-placed for the role having picked up some management, interpersonal skills & educational experience owing to previous roles over past years. I have delivered PACS tutorials, mentored Anatomy & this year have organised a three-month long teaching scheme for first years with the Islamic Society. As President of the Medical Society, I reinforced its connections with the Medical School & oversaw the running of 50+ tutorials, 15 talks, 2 conferences & clinical skills sessions. I gained experience with extensive high-profile sponsorship for MedSoc which I hope to bring to the role.
Being elected would allow me to use my position to benefit those interested in ophthalmology - through this, the medical student community on the whole in the short-term; beyond this, for current and future students, trainees + doctors.
