Through my first year at RAX, I enjoyed the social running the most. I met my best friends and future roommates at the social runs, and so I want to ensure that these runs are continued and give the opportunities I had this year to others next year. I am determined to commit to leading the social runs, to include everyone of all levels. I also have some ideas for future social runs, e.g. running in clothes according to certain themes, especially during christmas, or just any fun themes that are easy to dress according to. Moreover, bringing speakers on some runs would also make social runs attractive for all, such as an ABBA music run, reggaeton music runs, taylor swift music runs, rap music runs. I believe that my ideas can contribute a lot to RAX, to continue to grow the social running aspect of the club and show that running is something incredibly enjoyable as a team.

Yiming Sun

Hi everyone! I am Amy, Yiming, and I would like to be your new social running captain. In the past two years, I have been training for sprint triathlon and long-distance running. This year is my first year at UCL and I really enjoy the social runs and competitions held by RAX. I especially love to run with people after finishing a heavy day of studying. I believe social run is an easy, quick, and fun way to get involved in a community as well as making friends. So, I would like to contribute more to the RAX club for the coming academic year by nominating myself for this position. Previously, I was the House Prefect in my high school which trained my organisational and cooperation skills, and I want to use these skills to provide support to the club and continue to hold fun, relaxing, and productive social running sessions.

I'm baaaccckkkk! And this time with a much more humiliating photo.

I have loved being your Social Running Captain this year and I would love to continue that in my last year at UCL. The turnout at social runs this year has been fantastic and the inclusivity of so many different people with different running styles, experience, and goals has been amazing to see. My main goal for next year would be to continue growing the social runs, especially focusing on turnout in Term 3. When we feel we haven't left the library in days and haven't taken a breath, running is such an escape, and I would love to see more people taking that opportunity. Couch to 5k has also been such an incredibly rewarding experience over the past year. I am a firm believer that if you want to run, you can, it is just a matter of self-belief. As a relatively new runner (in the grand scheme of things), I know how much confidence it takes to just get out running for the first time, and that is why C25K means so much to me. The opportunity to get even more aspiring people into running next year would be amazing, as I believe everybody should have the opportunity. Being your Social Running Captain again next year would make my final year at UCL the best it could be PLUS I humiliated myself with the picture I've put on here so you know I really care :)

Thank you for listening!
