Having been in the society for the past year, I’ve had the opportunity to be involved in a variety of productions, from Varsity to term films. because of this, I’ve become extremely familiar with all of the kit we have and I would love the chance to help Henry out with keeping a well-organised, accessible and seamless experience for members to hire out equipment and the studio space. I have wanted to be a SEIM for a while now; the more people we have looking after our equipment, the more accessible it becomes.
I am quite a bit of a neat freak and love organising, and every time I see those cupboards I just want to spend a whole day labelling and ordering everything. We have such great equipment, and it’s such a shame when it goes missing, so keeping a very structured system in place will hopefully prevent that (and the more equipment we don’t have to re-buy, the more we can invest in new equipment). I also tend to be on and around campus quite often too, which means I am around to help facilitate the use of the studio and borrowing equipment.
As well as being an opportunity to help out the society, being a SEIM will also help me to gain more technical knowledge about the equipment we have. I have really enjoyed being a part of this society, and would love the opportunity to be more involved in my final year before I leave UCL.
