Election post
Public speaking has always been an outlet for all of my excess energy. I came into our first workshop with no real expectations to learn anything. If anything, I thought it would just be a nice addition to my CV. But as I sat through workshop after workshop, activity after activity I realized something. There was so much more for me to learn and improve than I ever could have realized.
Our committee members have been doing an excellent job at planning out and curating different workshops and activities on a week to week basis and I was shocked by the amazing improvements that fellow members accomplished in such a little time. Having done speech & debate for over five years, MUN for over six and serving as a military instructor for two, I feel an burning passion within myself to help develop and curate the amazing flame that is our current public speaking society.
Utilizing my experience, I hope to use the position of social secretary to work closely with our event's director in expanding and improving upon all our societies activities. I would propose that we expand the scope of our events to include more fun and engaging public speaking challenges while also further increasing the competitions we are involved in 2nd term to not only show the fruits of our labor, but to further allow us to learn a variety of different competitive speech formats like extemporaneous speaking.
At the very least, if elected I will campaign our committee for more free and deserved pizza.
