Are you looking for the opportunity to do a one-off day of volunteering and make a real and immediate difference to the lives of young children living in poverty in London this winter?

Whether you’re an expert organiser or simply looking for a way to give back this winter season, whilst having fun and gaining new skills, whilst helping to support families facing tough times, we have a volunteering opportunity for you at our Little Village hub in the Treaty Shopping Centre in Hounslow. We sort and organise donated items destined to become beautiful bundles for the families we support, through our work as a baby bank.

What will I be doing?

  • When you arrive on-site you will be given a clear induction as to how everything works.
  • You would be checking the donated stock that comes in and ensuring items are good enough quality. This is an important part of our work as we are an organisation giving gifts from one family to another, so they should be of the highest quality.
  • A large part of the role is organising donations, by gender, age, and item type.
  • You might also be asked to safety check buggies and build cots to check all parts are complete and the cot is safe.

When?
Friday 9th December, 10am - 3.30pm

You are welcome to take a 30-minute break for lunch and we have lots of tea and coffee and treats for re-fuelling breaks throughout the day.

Where?
The former Debenhams site at the Treaty Shopping Centre in Hounslow.  We are a five-minute walk from Hounslow Central (Piccadilly Line) and an eight-minute walk from Hounslow railway station.  We’re easily accessible on bus lines 111, 203, 237, 281, 423, E8, H37.

What impact will this have?
Little Village is like a foodbank, but for clothes, toys and equipment for babies and children up to the age of 5. We’ve grown to be one of the largest ‘baby banks’ in the UK, supporting over 25,000 children since we launched in 2016 Families are referred to us via a network of over 2,000 professionals such as midwives and social workers.

The families we help are at the heart of what we do, here is a quote from a mum we supported:

“I am a disabled mum of 2 that is pregnant with my 3rd and my husband had to give up work to be my full time carer and with all the cuts in grants etc we were really struggling to buy what we need for the baby so without Little Village’s help we would really be in a dire situation. Thank you all so much for all your help and support.”.
