A fun-filled evening of bioethical debates, discussions, and problem-solving!
The STEMathon will consist of two bioethics debates, with one Proposition (For) and Opposition (Against) team per debate, followed by some bioethical problem-solving games if time permits!
We invite you to participate actively in the debate by joining the debate teams (12 spaces) or, if you prefer playing the devil's advocate, pose questions for the debate teams as an audience member. Each debate team can have only 3 members, so DM us @ucl_bioethics on Instagram, or email us ([email protected]) to confirm your place!
This is NOT a competitive debate - we welcome students from all backgrounds and skill levels to participate. No prior experience with debating (or being ethical ;)) is required! The goal of this STEMathon is to hear everyone's perspective to gain a better understanding of bioethical issues, not to declare an ultimate winner.
We will also be joined by some UCL professors and teaching staff, who will provide their insight and feedback on our discussions as experts in their respective fields!
The debate topics will only be released during the STEMathon to allow all participants an equal playing field. Participants will be given 20 minutes to prepare their points in 4-minute speeches.
