What do you hope to achieve in the role if you are elected?
UCL has one of the largest numbers of diverse clubs and societies ranging from careers societies to cultural ones. However, due to the pandemic, participation in clubs and societies has decreased. We aim to change this by aiming to solve these concerns that are all coming from UCL students:
1) Integrate the resources and organise more cross-societies events
2) Pay more attention to our mental health through societies/clubs
3) Encourage more participation in societies' events
4) Careers focus
5) Improve communication between society and union
6) Help societies adapt to campus life again
What will you bring to this role (e.g. experience, skills or qualities)?
Mohammed is the Head of Mentorship at UCL EFS where he has interacted with hundreds of freshers and helped them with spring weeks, organising events and understanding the main concerns they have. This experience will help him make the right decisions as Societies Officer.
Yan loves interacting with different types of people and situations, caring about people around her and tries her best to help them. She has been part of the student leadership position in her schools for more than 12 years.
So I believe next year, after our hard work, our societies/clubs would unprecedentedly flourish.
