Hi, I’m Noah

And I’m standing for the position of Chemistry Editor for the Science Magazine. Here’s why I believe I am a strong candidate for this role:

I am a second-year biochemistry student with a keen interest in carbohydrate chemistry and synthetic biology. My academic focus aligns well with the magazine’s interdisciplinary approach.

I have practical experience in scientific communication. For instance, I wrote an essay on MAPK pathways, focused on the characterisation of JNK1. This experience has honed my ability to condense swathes of information into a concise yet comprehensive format. Additionally, I have delivered a presentation on apoptotic mechanisms of autoimmunity development; this really tested my ability to convey complex topics in a manner which was intuitive and compelling.

My interest extends beyond my studies—I explore wide-ranging topics, including how stereoisomerism affects drug potency or the single-molecule spectroscopy revolution. I appreciate that the magazine’s content is accessible appealing to a diverse audience.

I look forward to contributing to the magazine’s social events, such as pub quizzes, fostering a sense of community among readers and contributors. I am also very familiar with the inner workings of an UCL society having been a president.

In summary, I am excited about the opportunity to contribute to the Science Magazine by ensuring accurate chemistry content and sharing my passion. Thank you for considering my candidacy!
