Hi guys I’m Maria - I’m a first year studying Earth science. I’m running for social secretary, a position I think is well suited to me :) I’ve played Rugby for 2 years and I really love being part of the UCL team. As a fresher I’ve only been part of this society for a really short amount of time, however, i've found that it’s a great community to be part of and a community that I’d love to support by being a social secretary. I want to organize fun socials, both drinking and non-drinking, to bring the team closer to one another while off the pitch as well as to create a welcoming community for social members. 

Some ideas I have for some themes would be: White lies, Hen do, Anything-but-clothes, Dress-like-your-course and many many more 

Some social ideas: family talent show, pub crawls, chicken race etc

Some specific non-drinking ideas: boardgames, movie nights, quiz nights, picnics, team walks etc

I know it can be scary to join and go to socials when you're new, especially if you don't feel comfortable drinking, so I would really like to be able to host a mixture of socials open to even regardless of whether you drink or not. I will also utilize my connections and organise the best joint-socials with various societies (notably Mens Rugby, Women's Football)!!

Outside of the socials I’ll always be there to lend a hand to help make everyone feel comfortable and included.
