Naam Ghedia

Hey guys, I’m Naam and I’m in second year right now. I’m running for president because even in first year, when I should’ve been clubbing, going out, and worrying about my degree, I had a little notes page containing ideas for Natural Sciences Society. This year, I was an events officer. Although I’d really enjoyed it, I felt that for my ideas to really shine I would need to work and coordinate with the rest of the committee in a way that I couldn’t do as an events officer and would need to be president for.

The degree doesn’t allow for much mixing outside of chosen streams. It’s hard when a lot of your friends that you’ve made in first term are now split across five different modules. I’d have regular events would allow for these friendships to continue outside of an academic setting. These events would be one of the few times for Natsci students to mix outside of their streams and year groups.

Outside of socials, it’d be nice for members to meet people within their streams through a buddy system that’s more on the informal side. Additionally, I would also have the society coordinate more talks, alumni events, and application support. Personally, I would have loved some more guidance with finding a career path and pushing more events like these would be a great idea to find and learn about careers that interest me.

These are only a handful of my ideas, and I hope if you vote for me as president so we can all get the most out of this society and this degree together.
