Hamish Rogers

Hi! I’m Hamish, I’m a 2nd year Linguistics student and I’m running to be your Vice President!

This year in Music Society, I am managing the Chamber Choir. This has given me valuable experience in coordinating rehearsals and concerts, problem solving, and has shown me what being on committee entails. I have also started UC8 (which has taught me a huge amount about what it is like to run a project from scratch), been involved in hiring our new Chamber Choir conductor, and helped set out and pack up wherever needed in Chorus rehearsals and Symphony concerts. I am hugely passionate about Music Soc, and were I to be elected, I would put everything I’ve learnt into making next year as enjoyable as possible for everyone!

If I were elected, I would love to work with the Publicity Officer to spread the dates and locations of auditions, as well as a calendar of each ensemble’s plan for the year, over campus and social media as widely as possible, to ensure that no one misses out and everyone finds the right group for them.

Initiatives that have gone down well this year, such as society merchandise and showcases celebrating underrepresented groups in music, would be my main priority to continue. In particular, I would like to continue music families, which helped so many find their feet this year, and made the society feel really welcoming and inclusive from day one.

I would love to be your Vice President next year, and be part of the dedicated team that makes Music Society so special!
