Lithuanian Society has so much potential of becoming not only a society to merely unify Lithuanians in one or two bar socials a month (like many other societies do), but also a hub to share with and teach UCL students what Lithuania always pioneered in - folklore, choreography, music, cuisine, literature, politics, entertainment, and whatnot. Аs a treasurer, I would do my best to help organize events anywhere from folk dance and cuisine workshops to seasonal holidays and music/poetry/language minicourses - viskas įmanoma, tiesiog reikia norėt!
After Brexit, unfortunately, not many people come to study to the UK from the EU (including Lithuania), and the lack of sense of national community is deeply felt. As a treasurer I would see intentionаl advertisement as a society open to all, regardless of nationality, language, or area of studies, as the best way to attract more members and, thus, organize better events (especially aiming at fellow Latvian and Estonian UCL students, who do not have societies of their own). You know, kuo mūsų daugiau, tuo mums geriau!
Finally, Lithuanian Society must also be principled in the modern day context. As a treasurer, I would work together with other societies and students to organize fundraiser events, campaigns, and workshops to help our friends in need, like, right now, Ukraine.
Lithuanian Society can become much more, and I believe that I can help it become much more by running for a treasurer position. Važiuojam!
