I want to stand for Welfare Officer because I understand how the pressures of studying and working towards a career in law can have a harmful effect on mental and physical health. I have always found exercise to be an incredibly effective way of mitigating stress however once I began at UCL, I found it difficult to allow myself the time to do the things I loved like running. After reaching the precipice of burnout, I have now found a balance between work, rest and socialising which has been crucial to supporting my wellbeing.

As a Welfare Officer, I will organise drop-in sessions as well as holding events for the whole society to help us relax from the university grind. I have found several strategies which have helped me overcome stress and I want to start a weekly newsletter where I share my tips on the small changes which have significantly improved my mental and physical health. Building a strong community and network is crucial to good mental health as well as being the foundation to a successful career. As a Welfare Officer, I will collaborate with the Events Officer to hold a variety events with both fun and practical elements to give members the chance to recharge, as well as the opportunity to try out new activities by collaborating with sports societies as well as expanding our network by chatting to trainees over coffee.

By voting, you can help me put my ideas into practice to improve our members’ wellbeing!
