Never have I regretted something more than not joining jazz society in my first year. The talent, the atmosphere and most importantly the people are, for lack of a more formal phrase, pure vibes. Whether it was playing my heart at out the jam, eating curry in Drummond street or triggering Amie by only ever coming to the big band socials but not the rehearsals prior, I love the social opportunities this club provides.

I want to continue them and hopefully create even more: with more curry nights with bossman at Taste of India; Ronnie Scott pub crawls/ pub golf; funky ideas to do with making bands out of instruments no one has ever played before; and of course being able to organise the after parties for the amazing shows this society puts on. The more excuses to hang out, the better.

I was fortunate enough that when I did join jazz this year, I already knew a few people, which made the process of integrating a lot less daunting, allowing me to meet so many more individuals. I hope with my warm, outgoing nature, I can make that process much less daunting for the next batch of freshers. Whether you would like a drunk or a sober night (both of which I’ve done many of) wouldn’t matter and I’d make sure everyone’s welcome.

Working with the rest of the committee closely, I hope I can make these socials regularly happen. This club has been great to me and I wish to give back that same quality. I hope I get your vote, thank you.
