As the head of the journal club for the Genetics Society this academic year, I communicated with speakers from various fields of research about genetics, wrote introductions for speakers on the Bioscience Notice Board, and held journal clubs around twice a month. My time management and communication skills allow me to successfully cope with unexpected conditions and build up our membership. I have familiarised myself with our working scheme in the Genetics Society, feeling confident with the role of vice president, and aspiring to contribute more to this society.

To fulfil the role of vice president, I shall:

  • Communicate regularly with other committee members, collecting their feedback and tailoring society's planning.
  • Engage actively with social and academic activities, enjoying and celebrating the excellent work organised by our committee.
  • Applying my network skills and 200+ LinkedIn connections with students and experts in the field of biomedical sciences, to help with community outreach and cooperation.
  • Create and maintain the teamwork calendar on Asana, setting clear deadlines to facilitate the workflow.
  • Take over some of the other committee members' work whenever in need or facing an emergency.
  • Help with brainstorming ideas for novel themes of activities. I suggest having broad themes of panels in biochemistry, biophysics, techniques, AI, etc. relating to genetics.
