Hi, my name is Ingrid Chan, and I am a penultimate Social and Political Studies student. I am running for president as I am passionate about diplomatic and current affairs, and I would love to help other students learn more and connect with each other via overseeing the organisation of diplomatic, social, and networking events and conducting Student Union administrative tasks to ensure everything runs smoothly!

A few suggestions include:

  • Feedback for your experience in the society + half-term surveys
  • Society ‘families’ and ‘first year’ support schemes + alumni connections
  • Better integration with the Diplomacy Review
  • Collaboration on networking events with other societies/universities
  • For high-demand events: ‘amended’ first-come-first-serve (priority to standard members who haven’t been to events yet)

My experience as a current Head of Events and as the Head of Research in the ESG society has instilled in me a sense of responsibility and time management skills, as well as the ability to plan ahead while being flexible, as seen by the successful events and embassy visits I’ve organised. I am also very approachable (I am very responsive in my messages to members!) and open to suggestions on future events, and I hope to collaborate with you all to make your experience more enjoyable.

I would appreciate your vote for president of the Diplomacy Society, and I hope to continue serving you all and the society in a different capacity next year!
